We Are All One
I know—it sure doesn’t feel like it.
In this installment, we’ll continue our journey to stop operating from a state of fear and move towards operating from a state of love by adding to our understanding that we are eternal and infinite, and that everything is in divine order, and exploring the universal law of divine oneness
The Sacred Unity of the Flower of Life
Many philosophers, seekers, astronomers, and spiritual teachers throughout time (and presumably throughout the cosmos) believe in a set of geometric laws that create everything in existence. The Flower of Life is an ancient two-dimensional geometric symbol that contains nineteen equally proportioned overlapping circles of the same size that are interconnected. It’s a symbol of unified consciousness—oneness.
Some say depictions of the Flower of Life date back to ancient Egyptian times, while some say it came much later. I think it’s hard to know exactly when it first appeared, but it feels like a way of living that ancient Egyptians would understand and demonstrate, if not necessarily draw (though I’d bet they did).
You’re telling me I’m one with (insert example here)…
Yes. No matter how you filled in that sentence, the answer is yes. A starving child in a third world country—yes. A butterfly—yes. A billionaire—yes. Your nemesis (or nemeses) in your life—yeah, them too.
Embracing and demonstrating the law of oneness was another profound turning point for me in this lifetime. My levels of patience, understanding, generosity, compassion and so much more deepened exponentially when I began pausing in moments of my life to truly live within this law. I felt more and deeper inner peace, too. It’s another law that I’ve always known, but only sporadically demonstrated, usually when it was pretty easy. The true expansion, growth and inner peace started for me when I began living this law when it was challenging—like with my nemeses, and I’m only half-joking when I use that term.
There have been and are people in my experience that I don’t like. External conditions, too, but we talked about those a bit with the law of divine order, so for now, we’ll focus on applying the law of oneness to people.
There are people whose energy I don’t like. Maybe it’s something specific, like the way they act, or maybe our vibrations are simply not a good match. I believe it’s part of the human condition to not like everyone. Maybe this will be one of those things that I’ll find out wasn’t “okay” when I get home to the higher planes, but for now, I don’t really worry about it. I know these same people to be the exact same beings of white light and perfection at their core that I am, but I don’t like them here—and they generally don’t like me either! But I do honor them and their journeys. I absolutely know we are one and I remind myself of this in many moments.
Pantheism
Pantheism is a belief as old as time. It’s a non-religious philosophy that in short states that everything and everyone is part of the whole, and the whole is God. In other words, everything and everyone is connected. No thing is separate from any other thing. No one is separate from another.
Encyclopedia of Philosophy explains Pantheism as the understanding that “everything that exists constitutes a unity and that this all-inclusive unity is divine.” That’s the law of divine oneness.
We are all unique and free
While we are all one and connected energetically to all that is, we’re each also our own unique and extraordinary beings. We all have different strengths and gifts, and we all have our own unique rhythm.
Every one of us has inherent worth, and our very own paths and purposes in life. I honor these for everyone. All of us should honor these for everyone. We don’t have to agree with everyone’s path or the things each person does or doesn’t do on their path, but we should honor them. And when people are doing or being in a way that is not consistent with their true, divine essence—when they’re not operating from a place of love—it’s our responsibility to show them a better way, just as it’s their responsibility to us to do the same.
We are all supposed to be helping each other. Sometimes when I reflect on my life and how many different people have helped me in so many different ways I’m blown away.
The Butterfly Effect
Most of us are familiar to some degree with this term and its meaning.
Some know it from the science fiction short story from the early fifties by Ray Bradbury, The Sound of Thunder. In this story a man travels back to prehistoric time and inadvertently steps on a golden butterfly. This seemingly insignificant event creates a dramatic and unintended shift in future events. Some may know the idea from the metaphor of a butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world beginning a ripple effect that creates a hurricane on the other side of the world.
The idea is that tiny changes can create enormous effects or dramatically different outcomes. I have the power to make these tiny changes, shifts, and contributions that will ultimately affect the whole world, the universe, and you also have this power.
It’s not big efforts by a small number of people that are going to shift us back to a world of kindness, balance, equality, and peace—a world in alignment with our true essence. Many small contributions by many people are what has the power to create that big change.
If someone is rude to me and I’m rude back, I’ve made a contribution to the larger whole. It’s not the kind we want, and I’ve certainly made these negative contributions plenty. When someone is rude to me and I stop, reflect, and consider that we are all one (I am them, they are me, we are both interconnected with all that is), I can understand that they’re probably just having a bad moment (or an overall difficult life), and I can respond with kindness or generosity. That’s also a contribution to the larger whole, and a much more positive one. Under the law of divine oneness, both of these choices create a cascading energy through the cosmos.
I have experienced rude, unhappy or isolated people light up when I’ve shown them a small kindness, generosity or even simply offered them my honest presence. These very tiny things have made huge impacts right before my eyes.
Separation is an Illusion
The great Albert Einstein stated that, “the greatest illusion in this world is the illusion of separation.” We’ll be discussing the grand illusion of which separation is a part in a future post, but it’s important to touch on here as well.
I was born in 1971. In all my time in this life, our current world has seemed the most separate, isolated, and divided. Separation is a lie we’ve been sold for thousands of years. It’s time to stop believing it. We have divided ourselves by religion, political beliefs, socioeconomics, culture and more. Keeping people feeling separate through fear-based teachings is the perfect way for those in power to manipulate and control the rest of us. It’s a formula that has worked for a very long time. It’s time to shift out of these illusions. It really is time to wake up. The law of divine oneness is our foundation for this awakening.
Trust this law. Demonstrate it every chance you get. The momentum you create will lead to energetic shifts, which will lead to small changes, which will create a cascading effect that will lead to BIG changes, and before you know it, we are acting like we are all one, and treating each other as if we are all one, and who knows, maybe we’ll all even like each other.
How will you apply or demonstrate the law of oneness? What is your vision for what the world (and the cosmos) will look like when many begin making tiny positive changes, shifts or contributions to lead us back to a way of life that is consistent with our essence?
Ancient Egyptians (among other civilizations in history and currently throughout the cosmos) lived in balance, harmony, peace, unity and oneness—we can, too.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you,
